The
Federation has a higher council called the General
Assembly which meets yearly (usually during
November) and is attended by the directors general
of the member agencies, and General Secretariat
which meets twice each year to discuss the
activities of the Federation and comprises seven
members elected by the General Assembly for two
years while the Federation's Secretary General is
elected for a five-years term and should be a
person of vast experience and specialization in
the domain of news agencies work and journalism.
The Federation has achieved a unity of opinion
among the Arab News Agencies as concerns the
professional matters. Its annual conferences and
specialized meetings have contributed to the
development of cooperation between these agencies
and in assisting the emerging Arab News Agencies
through providing them with financial, technical
aid and expertise and through the exchange of
experts and inter-member visits of officials and
technicians.
