ACI, Saudi MCCI sign cooperation agreement

Amman, Jan. 22 (Petra) – Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) and Madina Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement, on the sidelines of the Jordanian industrial delegation’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

Headed by Chairman of Jordan and Amman industry chambers, Fathi Jaghbir, the delegation discussed aspects of increasing cooperation and supporting increased trade and services exchange between the two countries, according to an ACI statement.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Jaghbir lauded Saudi Arabia’s “rapid” current development in all fields and in “a record” time, which affirms that Saudi Arabia is on the right path to achieving Vision 2030, launched by His Highness Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Jordan’s industrial sector is “promising and capable of development,” as its exports constitute more than 90% of Jordan’s total exports, with a value of more than $7 billion annually, he noted, adding that Saudi Arabia is the second largest economic partner to Jordan.

He said meeting at MCCI headquarters affirms importance Saudi and Jordanian private sectors’ role in promoting economic integration between the two countries.

Today’s discussions should be a starting point for forming joint partnerships, especially since trade exchange is concentrated in specific commodities, which does not reflect productive diversity of the two countries’ industrial sector, according to Jaghbir.

In addition, Jaghbir noted Jordan imports multiple raw materials needed for its industries from Saudi Arabia, especially in the plastics industries sector, stressing that opportunities for joint industrial integration “exist and can be built upon,” and enhancing trade exchange is “not difficult” in light of the “distinguished” bilateral relations.
