Berri broaches general situation with his Irish counterpart, meets former Minister Fahmi, calls House Committees to hold joint session upcoming Wednesday

NNA – House Speaker Nabih Berri, on Thursday met at the Second Presidency in Ain El-Tineh, with Irish House Speaker, Seon O Fearghail, at the head of an accompanying delegation.

The meeting touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, and the means of legislative cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The visit was an occasion during which Speaker Berri congratulated the Irish people and the officers and peacekeeping members of the Irish contingent operating within UNIFIL, on the occasion of the Republic of Ireland's National Day. Speaker Berri hailed the efforts made by the Irish contingent’s members in performing their duties and in strengthening the bonds of historical friendship between Lebanon and Ireland.

This afternoon, Speaker Berri received former minister, Brigadier General Mohammed Fahmy.

On the other hand, Berri called the parliamentary committees of Finance and Budget, Administration and Justice, Public Health, Labor and Social Affairs, Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Public Works, Transport, Energy and Water, National Economy, Trade, Industry and Planning, National Defense, Interior and Municipalities, Agriculture, Tourism and Environment, to meet in a joint session at 10:30 am next Wednesday, March 22, to discuss an array of agenda items.
