China renews drought alert

Beijing, November 13 (Petra) – The Chinese National Meteorological Center renewed the issuance of a yellow alert to face drought, as several regions continue to suffer due to lack of rain.
The center said that a severe drought hit parts of the central, eastern and southern provinces of the country, while rainfall in parts of southwestern, central and eastern China is expected to ease the situation during the next three days, but most of the mentioned areas will continue to suffer from dry weather conditions.
The center advised local authorities to use emergency water sources to ensure water supply, especially for the population, warning of the risks of forest fires in some places.
The weather system in China operates according to four color-coded levels, with red being the most intense, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
