Khartoum,Jan.29 (SUNA)- The Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Dr. El Hadi Idris, met today, at the Republican Palace, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Sudan, Ambassador Isidro Gonzales Afonso.

The Spanish ambassador said in a press statement that the meeting discussed the stage of the transitional period in Sudan and the ongoing arrangements to reach a civilian government in the near future.

He affirmed support of the Kingdom of Spain to the process,  its appreciation for the efforts being made by the political and military parties, and its calling for the other parties to work together to realize the aspirations and desires of the Sudanese people.

Ambassador Afonso reaffirmed the Kingdom of Spain's full readiness to support the transitional period, adding: " we will be very happy to see a good end to the current political process and as Spaniards, we are ready to support, through our membership in the European Union, which will allow Spain to assume its presidency for the year 2023', noting that this leading position in the European Union, will give Spain opportunities for cooperation and support for the new government.

He expressed his thanks and appreciation to the TSC member Dr. El-Hadi Idris, describing the meeting as fruitful.
