Hajar lauds International Quartet’s support to democratic transition

 

Khartoum, Jan.29 (SUNA) –Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Al-Taher Abu Bakr Hajar, has lauded the role being played by the Quartet Mechanism in supporting efforts to reach a civil democratic transition in Sudan.

The TSC Member who met, today,  the delegation of the Quartet Mechanism, which includes (the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates), appreciated the great effort made by the Mechanism to make the peace negotiations, which was hosted by the capital of the Republic of South Sudan, a success, in addition to its contribution to concluding Framework agreement, to get out of the current political crisis.

 Hajar considered his meeting with the Quartet Mechanism today as a step to move to the second phase of the framework agreement, especially, the holding of workshops on peace and the issue of eastern Sudan.

The member of the Sovereignty Council urged the quartet mechanism, to redouble efforts to persuade the parties that have not yet signed, to join the agreement, in order to achieve the targeted civil democratic transformation.
