IMCTC Receives Delegation from British Command and Staff College

Riyadh, May 24, 2023, SPA — Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi received today a delegation of officers of the Advanced Command and Staff Course from the Defense Academy of the UK, led by the director of the academy, Brigadier General Matt Jackson.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi noted the depth of strategic relations between UK and the countries of the Islamic coalition.
The visiting delegation was briefed on the Islamic coalition vision, objectives and role in countering extremism and coordinating all efforts to confront terrorist tendencies through its ideology, communication, counter-terrorist financing, and military initiatives. It was also briefed on the latest developments regarding terrorist groups and incidents around the world, and IMCTC’s role in following up closely on these developments.
Maj. Gen. Al-Moghedi pointed out that the main objective of the coalition is to combat all incitement to violence and confront all extremist trends, beliefs and ideas, stressing that violent extremism is not the hallmark to any particular culture, religion or region.
He said that the UK’s presence, as a supporting country, in the Islamic Coalition has an impact on and lends a strategic dimension to the fight against the scourge of terrorism, adding that international cooperation and global solidarity are the most powerful weapons to defeat terrorism.
The delegation expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality it received, and praised the efforts of the IMCTC in combating terrorism and extremism.
The visit is part of the joint cooperation between IMCTC and its member states, which lends support to countries and strengthens partnerships, and helps exchange expertise in the fight to eradicate terrorism.
