JMD expects cold, rainy weather Wednesday

Amman, Mar. 15 (Petra) — A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Wednesday, becoming 3-4 degrees below the annual average, and bringing cold and cloudy weather conditions with intermittent showers in much of the country, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

Rainfall will be heavy at times, especially in the northern region, the JMD added, noting that the weather will start to stabilize at night as the precipitation will gradually decrease.

Additionally, the weather service issued alerts about flash floods, slick roads in the areas experiencing rain, and of poor horizontal visibility due to dense fog.

Mercury levels will rise again on Thursday. Therefore, moderate weather conditions will prevail in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, while it will be relatively cold in the highlands, the JMD predicted.

Today, temperatures in the capital Amman will range between a high of 14 degrees Celsius and a low of 5C at night, while the port city of Aqaba will see a fair 23C, sliding to 14C at night.
