
Riyadh, September 12, 2023, SPA — The Minister of Media and Chairman of the General Authority of Media Regulation, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, expressed his deep gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Cabinet’s decision to approve the new by-law of the General Authority of Media Regulation.
The minister emphasized that this decision seeks to bolster locally produced content, as it now places all media content under the authority’s purview. Furthermore, the decision aims to support various media-related economic activities in the Kingdom, fostering job creation by providing an attractive investment environment for national companies and foreign direct investments. Additionally, it seeks to adopt the latest regional and international trends and best practices in the field of media. This approach is envisioned to contribute to realising the objectives set out in the Saudi Vision 2030 by diversifying the sources of the national economy.
He expressed his hope that this decision, which brings media regulation under the umbrella of the General Authority of Media Regulation, will contribute significantly to achieving the aspirations of the wise leadership and the development of the Saudi media system.
