Sudanese-Chadian talks held in Ndjamena co-chaired by Al-Burhan and Deby

N'Djamena, Jan. 29 (SUNA) – Official Sudanese-Chadian talks held today in the Chadian capital, N'Djamena, co-chaired by President of the Sovereignty Council Gen. Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan and President of the Transitional Period in the Republic of Chad Lt. Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby.

The President of the Sovereignty Council expressed his thanks and appreciation to the President of the Transitional Period in the Republic of Chad, for inviting him to visit Chad, affirming the strong Sudanese-Chadian relations, referring to the social and cultural bonds that link the Sudanese and Chadian peoples.

Al-Burhan congratulated President Deby on the success of the Chadian dialogue, which was followed by the formation of the government and the other transitional institutions.

Al-Burhan gave a briefing on the developments of the political situation in Sudan and the efforts exerted to address the crisis in the country.

The President of the Sovereignty Council affirmed Sudan's support for political stability in Chad, the outcomes of the Chadian national dialogue, and the consensus that took place between the Chadian parties, affirming Sudan's keenness to coordinate with neighboring Chad on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Al-Burhan stressed the importance of preserving and developing the experience of the Sudanese-Chadian joint forces and exchanging support in international and regional forums, especially with regard to developments in Libya, Central Africa Republic and South Sudan.

The President of the Sovereignty Council affirmed Sudan's readiness to cooperate with Chad as an active member of the Group of Five to combat religious extremism, terrorist organizations, human trafficking and illegal immigration.

For his part, Lieutenant General Mahamat Idriss Deby welcomed the visit of the President of the Sovereignty Council to Chad, referring to the deeply rooted Chadian-Sudanese relations thanks to the social and cultural bonds between the two brotherly peoples.

The two sides agreed to activate the joint bilateral committees between the two countries, while affirming Sudan's readiness to continue cooperation in the fields of training and qualification, transfer and exchange of experiences in various economic fields, and encourage the Sudanese private sector to invest in Chad, in addition to agreeing to cooperate in the field of infrastructure and linking the two countries by roads and emphasizing the importance of activating the role of the Sahel-Sahara Community to play a pioneering role in the region.

This is besides strengthening agricultural cooperation between the two countries.

They also agreed to discuss developments in the situation in neighboring Libya and work to help the Libyans find a solution leading to peace in Libya, based on good neighborly relations with Libya.

The two sides also agreed on joint coordination between the competent agencies on the situation in Central Africa Republic in order to achieve security and stability in the region.
