1552 Palestinian refugees return to Syria from Lebanon

New York, Nov. 26 (Petra) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that 1,176 displaced Palestinian refugee families (a total of 3,373 individuals) have left Lebanon between September and November to seek assistance from UNRWA in Syria.

In a statement issued Tuesday, UNRWA noted that among these, 662 families (1,821 individuals) are registered Palestine refugees from Syria who had previously fled during the Syrian crisis, while 514 families (1,552 individuals) are registered Palestine refugees from Lebanon.

Approximately 95% of the refugees cited Lebanon’s security situation as the primary factor behind their decision to return to Syria, according to the UNRWA’s statement.
