Amman, November 14 (Petra) – Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC) discussed with the Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan (Intaj), a number of key issues for the Kingdom’s communications and information technology (CIT) sector, aimed at facilitating its companies’ operations.
The meeting, which was held at the ACC’s headquarters, stressed the need to provide a tax environment that supports growth and reduces burdens on local companies to enhance their “competitiveness” at the local and international levels.
According to an ACC statement Thursday, the discussions went over the available opportunities to support and develop the CIT sector to achieve goals of sustainable economic development.
The ACC Chairman, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, pointed to the CIT sector’s “major” role in supporting the national economy and facilitating activities of the Kingdom’s trade and services businesses, amid the current economic challenges.
Haj Tawfiq stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s continuous support for the sector is a major factor in making Jordan a regional hub for global companies in this field.
Furthermore, he said the chamber is “keen” to provide all attention to the Kingdom’s commercial and service sectors and support their operations.
Meanwhile, Intaj head, Eid Suweis, pointed to the CIT sector’s “remarkable” potential to grow and expand, stressing the need to integrate technological innovations to enhance capabilities of local companies.
Suweis also referred to Royal interest in the technology field to make Jordan a regional technological gateway, while emphasizing the importance of technological education and vocational training.
