Amman, November 12 (Petra) — Head of the Amman and Jordan Chambers of Industry, Fathi Jaghbir, met with Angel Antonio Gonzalez, Governor of the Spanish city of Siero, on Tuesday to explore ways to strengthen economic cooperation between Jordan and Spain.
Jaghbir underscored the importance of enhancing Jordan’s economic ties with Spain, observing that trade volumes between the two countries remain limited relative to the strong relationship between their leaders.
He expressed optimism that the private sectors in both nations could contribute to deepening these ties and announced plans to arrange a visit by a Jordanian industrial delegation to Siero. This visit aims to explore cooperative opportunities, particularly in establishing integrated industries and utilizing Siero’s local raw materials.
Highlighting Jordan’s strategic position as a gateway to Iraqi, Syrian, and Gulf markets, Jaghbir noted the country’s numerous free trade agreements, making it a favorable destination for foreign investments. He suggested that Spain could also serve as an entry point for Jordanian products into European Union markets.
Gonzalez, in turn, emphasized his city’s interest in building trade and investment partnerships with Jordan’s private sector. He pointed to Siero’s diverse economic landscape, which supports collaborations across multiple sectors such as education, agriculture, tourism, renewable energy, and livestock and dairy production.
Gonzalez added that this diversity creates a solid foundation for joint projects that could drive economic growth for both Jordan and Spain.
