BAU Unveils Strategic Plan to Strengthen Technical Education

Salt, Nov. 27 (Petra) – Al-Balqa’ Applied University (BAU), in partnership with the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions, has launched a strategic initiative aimed at improving the outcomes of its technical education programs.

Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni, the University President, highlighted that the collaboration underscores the university’s dedication to advancing vocational and technical education in line with the Kingdom’s broader economic reform vision.

The plan includes updating curricula to meet global standards, such as BTEC, and expanding partnerships with the private sector to enhance practical training opportunities.

Al-Ajlouni also emphasized the importance of developing faculty skills and integrating soft skills training into the academic curriculum. These measures, he said, are intended to elevate the quality of technical education and better equip graduates to meet the demands of the evolving job market.

Zhafer Al-Sarayrah, the Commission’s President, stressed the joint efforts between the Commission and the university to advance this vital sector. He also underscored the need to ensure that students acquire the skills needed for a rapidly changing workforce, noting that the initiative follows the Cabinet’s approval of an agreement with Pearson International for Vocational and Technical Education to align technical programs with international standards.

Zaid Alanbar, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Technical Education, reinforced the importance of investing in technical education as a means to drive sustainable development and support a green economy. He added that producing well-trained graduates would help reduce unemployment and create more job opportunities for youth, ultimately benefiting the national economy.
