Beirut, Nov. 24 (Petra) – Josep Borrell, the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, stated that the EU sees “only one possible way ahead: an immediate ceasefire and the full implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.”
In a press conference following talks in Beirut with Lebanon’s Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament, Borrell emphasized that the EU supports the efforts of the United States and France to find a resolution. He also condemned the attack on the “UNIFIL” forces, calling it completely unacceptable.
Borrell further noted that the situation in Lebanon and Gaza presents a global test of whether the world has the will and ability to achieve peace, adding, “People are dying under bombardment, and the world remains paralyzed in the face of what is happening here.”
