
Cairo, November 27 (Petra) — Jordan’s Minister of Justice, Bassam Talhouni, participated in the 73rd meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers in Cairo on Wednesday.
Chaired by Saudi Arabia, the meeting is preparatory to the 40th session of the Council slated for Thursday where the agenda for the upcoming session were discussed.
The meeting focused on activating and implementing the Arab Convention for Combating Terrorism, the Arab Convention for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism and the Arab Convention for Combating IT-related crimes.
It urged strengthening Arab and international cooperation in the fight against terrorism. The ministers discussed implementing decisions related to the Arab Convention on Combating Corruption and the progress of various draft conventions and laws, including the Arab Convention on the Status of Refugees in Arab Countries, the Arab Convention on the Protection of Personal Data and the Arab Guiding Law on Preventing Hate Speech.
The draft Arab Guiding Law on the Protection and Assistance of Displaced Persons, the draft Arab Guiding Law on Protecting Children from Recruitment in Armed Conflicts and the draft Arab Model Law on Combating Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances were discussed.
The Executive Office of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers includes representatives from Jordan, the UAE, Bahrain, Tunisia, Iraq, Libya and Morocco.
