
Riyadh, September 20, 2023, SPA — The official spokesman of the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), Major Marwan Al-Hazmi, stated that the security follow-up of narcotics smuggling and selling networks targeting the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its youth resulted in thwarting an attempt to smuggle 7,920,000 amphetamine pills. They were hidden inside a shipment of plastic panels through Al-Batha Port in the Eastern Region, in cooperation with the counterpart agency in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and in coordination with the Saudi Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZTCA). The recipients of the shipment were arrested in Riyadh region. They are two expatriates of Syrian nationality and four citizens. Preliminary regular measures were taken against them, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
Security agencies are calling on the public to report information concerning drug smuggling or trafficking by calling 911 in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions and 999 in the rest of the Kingdom’s regions.
