Government, medical association settle charges list dispute 

Amman, November 18 (Petra) — The Ministry of Health hosted a meeting on Monday to resolve a dispute between the Jordan Medical Association and insurance companies over the doctors’ charges list for 2024, published in the Official Gazette.

From the government, Health Minister Firas Hawari, Minister of Government Communications Mohammad Momani and Minister of State for Legal Affairs Fayyad Qudah attended the meeting, and representing the insurance sector was Chairperson of the Jordanian Health Insurance Association Dr Nazir Bate’, the Association’s Secretary-General, Majed Smeirat, Chairperson of the Jordanian Federation of Insurance Companies Dr Fawaz Ajlouni and CEO of the Federation Dr Mu’ayyad Kloub,

The Jordan Medical Association was represented by its President, Dr Ziad Zoubi, and the Chairperson of the Cooperative Fund, Dr Hatem Rawashdeh,

Hawari said the meeting had been marked by a “spirit of cooperation,” with all parties affirming their commitment to the rule of law. He confirmed an agreement on the new charges list, which will take effect on June 15, 2025.

The officials and sector representatives agreed to implement the Doctors’ Cooperative Fund Bylaw (No. 158) of 2018. A joint committee, consisting of three members of the Jordan Medical Association and three of the insurance sector, will be formed to finalise the executive details and instructions needed for implementation.

The Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Health Care and Epidemics, Dr Raed Shboul will chair the Committee. It is expected to complete its work by June 15, 2025.
