Israel launches intensive air raids on South Lebanon, jets overflow Beirut

Beirut, Sept 24 (Petra) — Israeli war jets carried out more strikes targeting about a dozen villages in southern Lebanon on Tuesday that were intensified in the afternoon, a Lebanese Security Souce said.

The source told Petra’s reporter in Beirut that the air raids targeted the towns of Khiyam, Beit Lif, Siddiqin, Bazourieh, Dab’al, Qleileh, Arabsalim, Beit Yahoun, Markaba and Mefadoun.

The jets also struck a forested area in the eastern sector of southern Lebanon, it said, adding that Israeli aircraft also overflew the Lebanese capital Beirut and its suburbs.

The Lebanese Health Ministry said earlier in the day that 558 people were killed and 1,835 were injured in the aerial bombing which began early Monday.
