Amman, Nov. 24 (Petra) – Jordan has improved significantly in the 2024 Global Knowledge Index (GKI), moving up nine spots to 88th out of 141 countries from 97th out of 133 in 2023. This progress aligns with the country’s Economic Modernization Vision.
According to a Ministry of Education statement on Sunday, this achievement reflects the efforts made in the area of pre-university education, demonstrating the government’s commitment to realizing the Economic Modernization Vision objectives. This vision aims to enhance Jordan’s global competitiveness and support a knowledge-based economy.
The ministry emphasized that this progress is the result of collaborative efforts between governmental bodies, academic institutions, and international partners. It reaffirmed its continuous pursuit of further achievements in education, knowledge, and innovation.
The ministry highlighted that this milestone is a crucial step toward achieving sustainable economic development goals and bolstering Jordan’s global standing as it seeks to build a robust knowledge economy for future generations.
The GKI, issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, is a global tool for assessing countries’ performance in education, scientific research, innovation, and technology.
