Amman, Nov. 16 (Petra) – The General Union of Voluntary Societies (GUVS) emphasized the importance of fostering cooperation and promoting a culture of tolerance and openness, noting that harmony, despite differences, is an ethical imperative to enhance love and goodwill within society.
In a statement released Saturday, on the occasion of the International Day for Tolerance, which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly under Resolution 9551, the GUVS reaffirmed its commitment to spreading the values of goodwill, humanity, and cooperation by providing aid and support to those in need. It emphasized that Jordan stands as a regional and international model of tolerance grounded in respect and appreciation of cultural diversity, viewing tolerance as a fundamental virtue that fosters a culture of peace rather than conflict.
The statement highlighted that, in a world currently grappling with wars, conflicts, and the spread of hatred, it is crucial to strengthen the culture of tolerance, dialogue, and acceptance of others, and to respect cultural diversity as a cornerstone for safeguarding human rights and ensuring global peace.
The GUVS reiterated its commitment to continue efforts to promote the values of tolerance that enhance the spirit of human fraternity and ensure peace everywhere.
