Jordan Welcomes Slovenia’s Recognition of Palestinian State

Amman, June 5 (Petra) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed Slovenia’s decision to recognize the independent Palestinian state, hailing it as a significant step towards implementing the two-state solution.

Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah expressed Jordan’s high appreciation for Slovenia’s decision, noting that it aligns with international law and resolutions that emphasize ending the occupation and establishing a two-state solution. This solution envisions an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with occupied Jerusalem as its capital.

Qudah stressed the urgency for the international community to take immediate steps to recognize the Palestinian state, ensuring a return to a path that achieves just and comprehensive peace, and preserves the rights of the Palestinian people, as well as security, stability, and peace in the region.

Reaffirming Jordan’s steadfast support for the Palestinians and their right to an independent, sovereign state, Qudah called on the international community, especially the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities. He urged them to enact a resolution recognizing the independent Palestinian state in accordance with international law and relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
