Amman, Nov. 27 (Petra) — Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani discussed on Wednesday the “pivotal” role of community radio stations as platforms for addressing challenges and celebrating success stories in local communities.
In a meeting with community radio representatives at the Ministry offices, Momani urged strengthening the national media’s role in conveying the state’s message and defending it against challenges.
He called for a clear vision to enhance the performance of all media outlets visual, audio, print, and digital while respecting their independence and commitment to professionalism.
He praised community radios for their contributions to raising awareness, fostering education, and promoting local development, noting their national role in communicating local community concerns, sharing their success stories, and shedding light on the challenges they face.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the free flow of information, enhancing the role of media spokespeople in ministries, and improving public communication through regular press briefings and transparent responses to journalists’ inquiries.
During the meeting, community radio officials shared insights and proposals, including expanding broadcasting coverage, addressing interference from foreign frequencies, and enabling advertising revenue to sustain their operations.
They discussed the “importance” of program exchanges and specialized content development to broaden their impact.
Radio station representatives commended the ministry’s routine meetings with media outlets and representatives, viewing them as an “essential” partnership-building effort between the government and the national media.
They reiterated the value of community radios as tools for development and awareness in the governorates while advocating for stronger government communication to support their mission.
