Amman, November 25 (Petra) — The Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed two agreements with Cairo Amman Bank and Jordan Islamic Bank to launch a new phase of the household support program for installing solar cell and solar heater systems for 2024–2025, including a 30 percent grant on all systems.
The agreements were signed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Kharabsheh, alongside the CEOs of Cairo Amman Bank, Kamal Bakri, and Jordan Islamic Bank, Hussein Saifan.
Kharabsheh emphasized the collaboration’s role in easing citizens’ financial burdens through energy solutions while advancing the ministry’s goal of increasing reliance on local energy sources. He highlighted the banks’ critical role in facilitating 70 percent financing for system costs through flexible installment plans, aligning with the Economic Modernization Vision to enhance living standards.
The minister noted the success of the program’s previous phase, during which 3,000 solar heaters and 2,000 solar cell systems were installed at a total cost of JD 6.5 million, with a 30 percent contribution from the Energy Fund. The new phase, launched in September, aims to install 4,000 solar cell systems at a cost of JD 8.5 million and 5,000 solar heaters at JD 3 million by year-end, ensuring equitable distribution across all regions of Jordan.
Cairo Amman Bank CEO Bakri and Jordan Islamic Bank CEO Saifan reiterated their institutions’ commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit citizens by reducing electricity costs and facilitating application processes.
Executive Director of the Renewable Energy Fund, Rasmi Hamza, urged citizens to follow the application guide published on the ministry and fund websites to access the program’s benefits. He highlighted the program’s role in stimulating the renewable energy market, preserving jobs, creating new opportunities, and increasing sector investments.
Since its inception in 2015, the household sector program has contributed to sustainable development and aligns with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision 2030, supporting the country’s transition to renewable energy, reducing emissions, and fulfilling international environmental commitments.
