Amman, Nov 24 (Petra) — The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) announced on Sunday a contingency plan and measures to address outages and technical challenges during the winter.
The plan is to ensure the readiness of technical teams to deal with any technical problems in the transmission system (high-voltage lines and transformer stations), through the Electricity National Control Centre in coordination with the company’s concerned crews, said NEPCO director general Sufian Batayneh.
NEPCO, he added, is developing and implementing operational strategies to ensure the generation stations’ capacity and preparedness to accommodate any sudden increase in electric energy demand.
Batayneh pointed out that the company has completed periodic and preventive maintenance work in transformer stations and transmission lines, and has run shifts for engineers in the main operations and support rooms in transformer stations across the Kingdom.
