Official Views Morocco as ‘Tremendous Ally’ for Caribbean Countries

Speaking to MAP on the sidelines of the 13th annual International Conference of the Policy Center for the New South (PCNS), The Atlantic Dialogues, Mathurin praised Morocco’s international efforts, which align closely with the priorities and needs of Caribbean states. She expressed hope that other African countries would follow Morocco’s lead in this area.

“There are so many good things we could achieve together,” stated Mathurin, whose organization aims to build bridges and foster cooperation between the Caribbean and Africa through technology entrepreneurship, as well as cultural and academic exchanges.

She also highlighted the shared challenges faced by Africa and the Caribbean, particularly those related to development, culture, and climate issues, emphasizing the importance of joint action to tackle these significant challenges.

The 2024 edition of The Atlantic Dialogues (December 12–14) addresses a variety of economic and geopolitical topics, reflecting the evolving dynamics of a broader and more integrated Atlantic region. The event features panels, roundtables, and other collaborative sessions.

Discussions focus on topics such as cultural diplomacy, the paradigm of regional security, smart infrastructure, the regulation of artificial intelligence, and other global issues.

The Kingdom of Morocco is a "tremendous ally" for Caribbean countries, particularly in terms of cooperation on food security and combating climate change, highlighted Chadia Mathurin, director of Saint Lucia-based NGO Wakonté, on Friday in Rabat.
