The visit of the Ivorian delegation, led by the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Policy Evaluation Committee, Koffi Kara, and comprising members of the Assembly and Senate, as well as representatives of civil society, is part of an exchange of experience and expertise on a number of subjects, including the “Open Government Partnership” initiative, the Lower House said in a press release.
On this occasion, the Lower House Speaker hailed the excellent historical ties between Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire under the leadership of both countries’ Heads of State, expressing their firm determination to strengthen cooperation between the two legislative institutions and to consolidate consultation and coordination on issues of common interest.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives also gave an overview of the reforms launched by the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, and reviewed the new updates introduced by the 2011 Constitution, notably extending Parliament’s prerogatives, strengthening its role in the evaluation of public policies and promoting participatory democracy.
Talbi Alami also recalled the House of Representatives’ involvement in the “Open Government Partnership” since its launch, highlighting the various projects and programs undertaken in this respect, as part of the institution’s determination to enshrine democratic and parliamentary culture, establish the parliament of proximity, strengthen openness to the public, involve citizens and promote the culture of participation among the various categories of society.
For his part, the Chairman of the National Assembly’s Public Policy Evaluation Committee welcomed the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in different fields, notably on the parliamentary level.
He also highlighted the efforts made by the House of Representatives as part of the “Open Government Partnership” initiative, while presenting Côte d’Ivoire’s experience in the parliamentary field.
