Qatar Participates in 40th Meeting of Arab Justice Ministers Council

Cairo, November 28 (QNA) – The State of Qatar participated in the 40th session of the Council of Arab Justice Ministers, held Thursday at the headquarters of the Arab League’s General Secretariat in Cairo.

HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali bin Issa Al Hassan Al Mohannadi chaired the State of Qatar’s delegation at the meeting.

During its current session, the council discussed a number of Arab agreements and legislations that aim to enhance legal and judicial cooperation between Arab countries, including enhancing Arab and international cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, including the Arab Convention for the Suppression of Terrorism and its implementation mechanisms, the Arab Convention on Combating Money-Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, and Arab Convention on Combating Information Technology Offences.

The ministers also reviewed draft guiding laws and agreements aimed at addressing the region’s challenges, including the draft Arab guiding law to prevent hate speech, the draft Arab guiding law to protect and assist displaced persons in Arab countries, the draft Arab agreement on the status of refugees in Arab countries, the draft unified Arab model law on narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, and the draft Arab guiding law to protect children from recruitment in armed conflicts.

The meeting discussed a number of items related to enhancing joint Arab action, including enhancing cooperation between the secretariats of the Arab Councils of Justice and Interior Ministers, forming the members of the Council’s Executive Office, and discussing some relevant organizational procedures.
