Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Mr. Henderson signed a joint communiqué between the two countries at the end of a bilateral meeting held on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.
In the communiqué, Morocco and the Commonwealth of Dominica expressed their full commitment to consolidating, energizing, and broadening the scope of their cooperation by proceeding to sign a new cooperation roadmap covering the 2024-2026 period.
On the Sahara issue, the Commonwealth of Dominica reaffirmed its support for the Kingdom’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Moroccan Sahara.
In the document, Mr. Henderson also reiterated his country’s support for the Autonomy Initiative, presented by the Kingdom in 2007, as the only credible, serious, and realistic solution for the settlement of the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
In this respect, he welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as an exclusive framework to achieve a realistic, practical, and lasting solution to this regional dispute.
As a member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the Commonwealth of Dominica welcomed the opening of an OECS Embassy in Rabat (October 18, 2018) and a Consulate General in Dakhla (March 31, 2022), which represent a great opportunity to further increase bilateral exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the six Eastern Caribbean countries.
