Amman, November 18 (Petra) – The Senate, chaired by President Faisal Fayez and attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan and the Cabinet, convened its first session of the first regular session of the twentieth National Assembly, which was inaugurated by His Majesty King Abdullah II with the Speech from the Throne on Monday.
During the session, the Senate elected a committee to draft a response to the King’s Speech, comprising Senators Samir Rifai, Rajai Muasher, Mohammad Daoudia, Issa Murad, and Abla Amawi.
Additionally, the Senate selected Samir Rifai as First Deputy Speaker, Abdullah Nsour as Second Deputy Speaker, and Suhair Ali and Zuhair Abu Fares as Assistants to the Speaker.
Fayez emphasized that the Speech from the Throne would serve as a guiding framework for the Senate in fulfilling its constitutional duties. He stressed the importance of accelerating reforms and ensuring constructive relationships with both the government and the Lower House of Parliament.
Fayez reiterated the commitment to achieving His Majesty the King’s vision, addressing challenges with a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.
