Senegal Consistently Supports Autonomy Initiative in Sahara, Within Framework of Respect for Morocco’s Sovereignty (Former FM)

The former Senegalese FM and one of the signatories of the “Tangiers Appeal” for the expulsion of the pseudo “sadr” from the African Union, recalled Senegal’s consistent position on the Sahara question, at the Saturday presentation of his two recently published books.

“Regarding such an important issue that concerns us, that of the Sahara, my country reaffirms its attachment to the consolidation of long-standing fraternal ties between all the peoples of the Maghreb and Africa, in general,” said Ndiaye in a speech on this occasion.

“In this spirit, all forms of separatism should be discouraged, and in this respect, Senegal would like to reiterate its support for Morocco’s initiative to grant broad autonomy to the Sahara, within the framework of respect for the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the relevant Security Council resolutions, for lasting peace in the region”, he stressed.

Senegal consistently supports Morocco's initiative to grant broad autonomy to the Sahara within the framework of respect for the Kingdom's sovereignty and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, for lasting peace in the region, said former Senegalese Foreign Minister Mankeur Ndiaye, special advisor to Head of State Macky Sall.
