Beirut, Nov. 25 (Petra) – The leadership of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) expressed grave concern over the attacks on the Lebanese Army within Lebanese territory, despite UNIFIL’s non-participation in the ongoing hostilities between Hezbollah and Israel.
In a statement released on Monday, UNIFIL emphasized that such attacks targeting the Lebanese Armed Forces on Lebanese soil constitute a blatant violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and international humanitarian law, which prohibits violence against those not involved in hostilities.
“We are deeply concerned about the escalating hostilities, widespread destruction, and loss of life along the Blue Line. We urge all parties involved in the conflict to resolve their differences through negotiations, not violence,” the statement read.
