Upper House Speaker Meets with Panama’s Ambassador to Morocco

During the meeting, Antonio Guardia commended Morocco’s interest in developing relations with Panama, expressing his admiration for Morocco’s development and for the projects launched over the past two decades under the leadership of His Majesty the King, said the Upper House in a press release.

He also emphasized the role of parliamentary diplomacy in bringing the two countries closer together, particularly following the visits of the House of Councillors Speaker in February 2022 and May 2023, which were marked by fruitful talks with Panamanian government and parliamentary officials.

The diplomat called for this momentum to be invested in further developing relations between the two friendly countries, the same source added.

For his part, Mayara emphasized the quality of political relations between the two friendly countries, expressing the Kingdom’s determination to consolidate cooperation with Panama and address any constraints that might hinder the development of these relations.

Relations between Morocco and Panama are part of the Kingdom’s commitment to South-South cooperation as a choice, he said, recalling the Royal Speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Green March, in which the Sovereign stressed that the Atlantic coast is Morocco’s gateway to Africa and the Americas.

Mayara also emphasized the active presence of the Moroccan parliament, as a true partner, in the various parliamentary groupings of Latin America and the Caribbean, expressing the determination of the Upper House to play a central role in bringing these two geographical areas closer together.
