On September 30, the Qatar National Library will host a conference and workshop on the history and use of the astrolabe, as well as another meeting on October 7 on “the history of Morocco” through the library’s archives, according to a statement by the “Years of Culture” initiative.
From October 10 to 12, the Doha Film Institute will be organizing an event entitled “Mosaics of Morocco: film screenings”, featuring four contemporary Moroccan films. These include “House in the Fields” by Taha Hadid, “MICA” by Ismaël Ferroukhi, “Fragments from Heaven” by Adnane Baraka and “Indivision” by Leila Kilani.
From October 13 to 20, Doha’s Katara Cultural Village will also host the Katara Festival for Arabic Novel, featuring Moroccan novelist Tuhami Al-Wazzani as “Personality of the Year”. The festival also includes a Book Fair and various workshops for families.
The Qatar Museum of Islamic Art will host, from November 02 to March 08, the exhibition “Splendors of the Atlas: A Journey through Morocco’s Heritage”, featuring over 200 objects including artifacts, manuscripts, instruments, jewelry and photographs.
“Ektashif: Morocco”, also organized at this museum from November to February, will showcase the work of 7 Qatari artists who took part in an educational trip to Marrakech, as part of the “Qatar-Morocco Cultural Year 2024” initiative.
On November 6, the Qatar National Library will host an exhibition dedicated to the evolution of books in Morocco, while a conference on “The Qarawiyyin library” will be held on November 13, in addition to a concert by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra on December 4.
The Ajyal Film Festival will celebrate, on November 16-23, the year of culture with a series of Moroccan short films, while the Katara children’s festival will offer entertainment from November 23 to 25. Similarly, the “Crafting Design Future” exhibition will be hosted by the Museum of Islamic Art from November 30 to January 1.
In Morocco, activities include the “Ajyal film club”, from September 20 to 22, and the “Marrakech short film festival” from September 27 to October 2, during which the Doha Film Institute will screen short films from the “Made in Qatar” program.
The El Jadida Horse Show (October 1 to 6, 2024) will also be celebrating Qatar and Morocco’s shared passion for horses.
Rabat will also host the penultimate round of the Longines Global Show Jumping Championship and the Global Champions Tour, in partnership with “Years of Culture”, on October 18-20, 2024. The capital will also host the Qatar-Morocco International Volunteer Trip, organized by Qatar Museums, from October 18 to 26.
The next edition of the “Photography journey” will bring together two women photographers from Qatar who will travel to Morocco to capture scenes from different regions of the Kingdom, from October 7 to 17.
The initiative’s autumn program includes exchanges of visits between artists from the two countries to create traveling works of art. Thus, three Qatari artists will travel to Rabat in October to collaborate with three Moroccan artists to produce these works as part of the “Jedari Art” program.
The 6th edition of “Fashion Trust Arabia” will take place from October 22 to 24, 2024 in Marrakech, while the “Qatar-Africa Business Forum” will be held on November 16 and 17.
Other events include the Knowledge Transfer Event in November, and the She Plays women’s soccer tournament.
As Morocco prepares to co-host the Football World Cup in 2030, the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, in collaboration with the Qatar Football Association (QFA), will hold a meeting to exchange expertise and experiences with its Moroccan counterparts in order to share perspectives and lessons learned from the successful organization of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to the same source.
