JODDB Launches Initiative to Enhance Cybersecurity, Digital Skills Among Students

Amman, February 10 (Petra) – The Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), in collaboration with the non-profit organizations Data Space and Green Circle, has launched the interactive Cyber Start initiative, aimed at advancing cybersecurity and digital skills among students.

As the first initiative of its kind in Jordan, Cyber Start seeks to equip school students aged 13 to 18 with essential cybersecurity and digital competencies through an interactive camp, workshops, and innovative educational activities. The program is designed to help students navigate digital challenges and promote the responsible use of technology.

In its initial phase, the initiative targets public schools, with approximately 30 institutions selected in coordination with the Ministry of Education. Each school has nominated 10 students to participate in the three-month training camp.

The program comprises three interactive educational stages: digital empowerment, cybersecurity awareness, and an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications. It also incorporates critical thinking and problem-solving exercises, alongside workshops utilizing augmented reality to enrich the learning experience.

Rateb Abu Ragheb, Head of Sales and Business Strategy at JODDB, emphasized the bureau’s commitment to supporting youth development in future technologies, aligning with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to invest in emerging technology sectors. He highlighted that the initiative reflects JODDB’s dedication to digital empowerment by leveraging cutting-edge technological tools.

Rand Harout, Program Manager at Data Space, noted that the organization plays a pivotal role in equipping young people with advanced training content aligned with global trends in cybersecurity and AI.

She added that Data Space is responsible for implementing and managing interactive e-learning programs for students and teachers, utilizing augmented reality and simulation technologies to enhance the educational experience.

Harout underscored that investing in youth is an investment in the future, stating that Cyber Start aims to equip the next generation with the knowledge and skills necessary for digital transformation.

She also emphasized the initiative’s role in fostering “digital immunity” by raising awareness of cyber threats and promoting safe internet usage. Plans are underway to expand the program to reach more schools and students across the Kingdom, she added.
