Biography:
He is a journalist and writer and currently holds the position of Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM). He is the former Executive Director of Editing and Publishing at Abu Dhabi Media Company and the former Editor-in-Chief of Al Ittihad Newspaper 2013-2018. Also, the former Editor-in-Chief of Alroeya Newspaper2018-2021, and Editor-in-Chief and Founder of National Geographic Al Arabia magazine 2010-2013.
Al Hammadi began his journalistic career in 1994 as a field reporter at Al Ittihad newspaper after graduating from the Department of Media at the United Arab Emirates University. then progressed to assume his responsibilities, which were not limited to managing operations and prominent media brands such as Al Ittihad newspaper, Zahrat Al Khaleej magazine, National Geographic Al Arabia magazine, and Majid magazine but also extended to developing digital businesses in the publishing sector at Abu Dhabi Media.
Al Hammadi is a member of many organizations and associations, including:
Assistant President of the General Union of Arab Journalists (Cairo), member of the Executive Office of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) (Brussels), member of the Executive Office and Financial Secretary of the Asia-Pacific Journalists Union, Member of the Advisory Board of Sky News Arabia (Abu Dhabi), former President of the Gulf Press Union (Manama), former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Journalists association UAE (Dubai), member of the Board of Directors of the Arab Journalism Award (Dubai), member of the Geneva Press Club (Geneva), member of the Advisory Board of the College of Communication at the University of Sharjah (UAE), member of the Board of Directors of the “WANAFRA” Middle East Foundation, member of the Emirates Writers and Authors Union, founding member of the “Young Arab Leaders” Organization 2006.
Al Hammadi has received many awards, including:
The Federal Personality of the Year Award from the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research, the Minister of Interior Medal for Community Service, The Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Award for Humanitarian Work, The Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum Award for Scientific Excellence,
The Distinguished Journalist Award from the Dubai Press Club, and the Best Newspaper Article Award in the Taryam Omran Journalism Award.
Al Hammadi has published several books:
“The Time of Tribulation” (2008), “Emirati Democracy” (2009), and “The Autumn of the Brotherhood” (2016).
Al Hammadi has written and published more than 4,000 articles on local and international issues, in addition to his media participation as a political commentator on international, regional, and local television channels.
