Agreement Signed to Finance Construction of Camel Racetrack in Duqm
Duqm, 18 Feb (ONA)
— The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) today signed a
cooperation agreement with Vulcan Green Steel company, a subsidiary of Jindal
Shadeed iron and steel group, to finance the construction of a camel racing
track in Duqm.
To be established at an estimated cost of RO 350,000, the racecourse
will cover an area of 4.8 million square metres at a length of 6 kilometres.
The agreement stipulates that the camel racetrack will be
built in accordance with the specifications set by Oman Camel Racing
Federation. The project includes the construction of side barriers for the racetrack using iron or aluminium or made entirely of iron, in addition to the
construction of 7 starting gates.
The project also includes the installation of signboards
along the racetrack to indicate the different race distances, the construction
of observer towers to film the competitions, the construction of
stands for members of the public, in addition to a VIP seating platform.
The cooperation agreement was signed by Eng. Ahmed bin Ali
Akaak, CEO of SEZAD, and Yousef bin Suleiman Al Reesi, General Manager of Vulcan
Green Steel company.
