Omani-European
Cooperation Forum Kicks Off

Muscat,
2 May (ONA) —— The Omani-European Cooperation Forum in Energy and Water
commenced today under the patronage of Khalid Hashil Al Musalhi, Undersecretary
of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs.

The
event is hosted by the Sultanate of Oman as part of its ongoing efforts to
transition toward a green economy. It brings together an elite group of
experts, investors, and decision-makers from Oman and the European Union.

Ahmed
Amer Al Mahrazi, CEO of Nama Group, stated that the Omani-European Forum seeks
to build tangible bridges between nations, sectors, and ideas to explore
practical and sustainable solutions for managing two of the most critical
resources of our time: energy and water, which serve as pillars of economic
development and foundations for societal well-being.

He
emphasized that the partnership with the European Union presents a valuable
opportunity to leverage global expertise, apply cutting-edge technologies, and
develop long-term solutions tailored to the unique environmental challenges
faced by Nama Group.

In
his remarks, he added that constructive cooperation and joint efforts enable
the group to develop innovative collaboration models—spanning public-private
partnerships, green financing mechanisms, technology adoption, and regulatory
framework alignment—contributing to the shared goals of Oman and the EU, as
well as global sustainable development objectives.

On
his turn, Hassan Ali Al-Ajmi, Business Resilience Director at Nama Group,
explained that the forum focuses on innovation and future trends in the energy
sector, reducing water loss through advanced management technologies, and green
investment opportunities in Oman’s energy and water sectors, including
demand-side management for smart meters and smart infrastructure.

In
a statement to Oman News Agency, he noted that the forum’s expected outcomes
include strengthening EU-Oman partnerships in sustainable development,
exploring business and investment prospects in electricity and water, and
formulating a roadmap for cooperation and implementation of methodologies to
transition toward a green economy.

The
forum’s agenda will feature several discussion sessions addressing multiple
themes, such as smart grids, energy storage, digital technologies in utilities,
water efficiency improvement, and green financing mechanisms. Successful
European experiences and innovative models in energy and water will also be
highlighted.

It
is worth noting that the forum is organized in partnership with the European
Union Delegation to Oman, Nama Group, and the European-Gulf Cooperation Project
for Green Transition. This event serves as a strategic platform aimed at
enhancing bilateral cooperation in energy and water while advancing the
transition toward a low-carbon economy.

The
forum seeks to achieve several key objectives, including strengthening Oman-EU
partnerships in renewable energy and water, exchanging best practices and
experiences in environmental policies, and attracting European investments in
green infrastructure projects in Oman.
