
Amman, August 5 (Petra) – The British Embassy in Amman announced Tuesday the launch of applications for the fully-funded Chevening Scholarships programme to pursue postgraduate studies in the UK.
The application period begins today and will close on October 7, 2025, according to a press release issued Tuesday.
The embassy stated that the programme, funded by the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, offers ambitious professionals worldwide the chance to earn a one-year master’s degree at a UK university.
The initiative aims to empower recipients to create positive impacts within their communities, countries and beyond.
The British Embassy in Amman encourages applicants who demonstrate strong leadership potential, influence positive change and possess excellent relationship-building skills to apply.
British Ambassador to Jordan Philip Hall stated that the Chevening Programme provides a platform for individuals to advance their academic and professional pursuits, immerse themselves in British culture and forge enduring connections.
He noted that the programme’s alumni network comprises over 60,000 individuals globally, including more than 17 current and former heads of state or government, along with a notable group of Jordanian alumni.
Emma Hennessy, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the British Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office, emphasised that the programme’s competitive selection process ensures that the most qualified and ambitious candidates are chosen.
She explained that Chevening alumni leverage their UK education and international networks to drive meaningful and sustainable change in their home countries addressing global challenges and fostering community development.
Hennessy encouraged prospective applicants to develop their leadership skills, influence, and relationship-building abilities. “If you can clearly demonstrate the skills needed to join them – outstanding leadership, influence and networking skills – I strongly encourage you to apply. If you’re not quite there yet, I encourage you to take the time to build the experience that will make your application competitive. she advised.”
