Israel imposes 6-month ban from Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem Mufti

Ramallah, Aug 6 (Petra) — Israeli occupation authorities Wednesday extended a ban of Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine Sheikh Mohammad Hussein from Al-Aqsa Mosque/ Haram Al Sharif for six months.

The ban followed the expiry of a previous order that kept the Imam out of the sacred compound for eight days after he denounced in a sermon Israel’s starvation policy in the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem Governorate said, quoting the Mufti’s lawyer.

The occupation authority handed the Mufti an order on July, 27 banning him from the holy compound for eight days, but extended it to six months today.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces arrested 28 “wanted” Palestinians during raids across the West Bank cities of Salfit, Tulkarm, Ramallah, El-Bireh, Bethlehem, Nablus, and Hebron, the Palestinian Prisoners Club said.

Elsewhere, Israeli bulldozers demolished a five-story apartment building east of Bethlehem under the pretext it was illegally built, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission in Bethlehem said.
