Amman, Aug. 11 (Petra) – Container traffic through the Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) posted significant growth in the first seven months of 2025, according to statistical data from the Jordanian Logistics Association.
Imports of containers loaded with goods increased by 18.8 percent, reaching 280,088 between January and July, compared to 236,494 in the same period of 2024. Exports from the Kingdom via ACT rose by 10.8 percent to 64,012 containers, up from 57,727 a year earlier.
In July alone, imported containers grew by 16.4 percent to 44,601, compared to 38,288 in July 2024, while exports rose by 17.7 percent to 11,799 containers from 10,025 in the same month last year.
Jordanian Logistics Association President Nabil Khatib told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that maritime activity through ACT has maintained momentum since the start of the year, with both imports and exports showing marked increases. He described the figures as “excellent and promising,” signaling a strong upward trend and a return to pre-slowdown levels, which he said would positively impact the national economy.
Khatib, who also serves as First Vice President of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, added that the number of container ships docking at ACT surged by 38 percent during the January–July period, reaching 345 ships compared to 250 in the same period of 2024.
Established in 2007, the Jordanian Logistics Association represents workers in the shipping and logistics sector, fosters a competitive environment, safeguards the freight brokerage profession, and develops work systems for logistics service providers. It is a member of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA), a global non-governmental organization founded in 1926 in Vienna.
