Amman, Sept. 27 (Petra) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh on Saturday took part in a panel discussion titled “Opportunities for Cooperation Between Iraq and Jordan in Sustainable Transition” during the Iraq Investment Forum 2025, which opened in Baghdad under the patronage of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al-Sudani.
In a ministry statement, Kharabsheh outlined Jordan’s experience in transitioning to sustainable energy and its efforts to develop renewable sources, particularly solar and wind power, in addition to boosting energy efficiency and reducing reliance on conventional resources. He also highlighted investment opportunities in the mining sector.
The minister discussed joint Jordanian-Iraqi projects, most notably the electricity interconnection project and the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline, describing them as key strategic ventures that reflect the depth of bilateral relations.
Kharabsheh stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in renewable energy, transport, storage, mining, and knowledge exchange, noting that integration of efforts between the two countries contributes to strengthening regional energy security.
The Iraq Investment Forum aims to explore investment opportunities in the energy sector and review strategic projects the Iraqi government intends to launch in the coming phase, amid efforts to diversify energy sources and attract both foreign and domestic investment.
Jordan’s participation reflects the two countries’ shared commitment to boosting economic and investment cooperation, exchanging expertise and perspectives, and reinforcing energy sector stability in the region.
