Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) — Forces from the Eastern Military Zone foiled two attempts to smuggle large quantities of narcotics early Monday along the Kingdom’s eastern border.
A military source said Border Guard units detected suspicious aerial movements and tracked balloons carrying the drugs, which were guided by primitive devices. The forces acted swiftly, intercepting and downing the balloons in two separate locations within Jordanian territory, in coordination with security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department.
The seized narcotics were transferred to the competent authorities for investigation and legal action.
