Amman, Oct. 20 (Petra) – President of the General Federation of Jordanian Trade Unions, Khaled Fanatseh, and the Secretary General of the General Union of Algerian Workers, Amar Takdjout, signed a cooperation protocol to enhance relations and exchange expertise in trade union work.
According to a statement by the Federation on Monday, the signing took place during Fanatseh’s visit to Algeria on October 18 and 19, which included official and union meetings with senior government officials and labor leaders.
Fanatseh participated in the annual meeting of the Arab Union Media Network, hosted by Algeria under the theme “Empowering Arab Unions to Confront the Impact of Automation and Artificial Intelligence on the Labor Market.”
During the opening session, he stressed the importance of union media in supporting workers’ rights and advancing the goals of labor organizations amid technological and media transformations.
Fanatseh also met with Algerian Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines Mohamed Arkab, in the presence of Algerian trade union leaders, to discuss cooperation prospects between the Jordanian and Algerian federations in social dialogue, training, and expertise exchange, as well as coordination in economic and investment partnerships between the two countries.
He commended Algeria’s experience in engaging social partners in shaping labor policies and expressed keenness to strengthen union relations to serve workers’ interests, improve the work environment, and boost economic cooperation.
Fanatseh also met with Algerian Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security Abdelhak Saihi, where both sides discussed ways to expand cooperation in labor and social protection fields.
Saihi reviewed Algeria’s social achievements, including expanding social coverage and health insurance against serious illnesses.
Fanatseh highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Algeria, praising Algeria’s efforts to safeguard workers’ rights and emphasizing the importance of sharing expertise in labor and social security.
