Amman, November 10 (Petra) – Minister of Public Works and Housing Maher Abu Al Saman met Monday with Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Rania Hadiya on cooperation.
The meeting, attended by the Director General of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation, Jumana Atiyat, and the Director of the UN-Habitat Amman Office, Dima Abu Diab, focused on the Programme’s activities in the Kingdom, particularly in the areas of sustainable urban planning and housing development.
Both sides reviewed joint achievements aimed at enhancing the quality of the built environment in Jordanian cities.
Abu Al Saman underscored the importance of the partnership with UN-Habitat in supporting national efforts toward sustainable urban development and improving the efficiency of housing and infrastructure projects in line with international best practices.
For her part, Hadiya commended the Ministry’s cooperation with UN-Habitat and reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to supporting the Jordanian government’s initiatives in housing, urban development and institutional capacity building.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to continue coordination and implement joint programmes and projects that contribute to improving housing and urban services and advancing sustainable development in Jordanian cities.
