Baghdad, Feb. 21 (Petra) – Iraq’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday condemned remarks attributed to the U.S. ambassador to Israel regarding Israeli control over the entire Middle East.
The ministry said in a statement that it expresses the strong condemnation and deep denunciation of the statements made by the U.S. ambassador to Israel, which suggested that Israel’s control over the entire Middle East could be considered acceptable.
It described the remarks as a serious violation that contradicts the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter and constitutes an infringement on the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states, in addition to the negative repercussions they carry for the security and stability of the region.
The ministry stressed Iraq’s firm position supporting state sovereignty and rejecting any policies or practices based on domination or imposing a fait accompli, affirming the need to respect the rules of international law in a way that strengthens regional security and peace.
