Jakarta, April 04 (QNA) – Indonesia has called on the United Nations (UN) Security Council to urgently investigate repeated attacks against UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, after three of its personnel were injured in an explosion on April 3 in El Addaiseh, southern Lebanon.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry expressed “grave concern” over the incident, noting it was the third serious attack on Indonesian UNIFIL troops in less than a week.

The Ministry reiterated Indonesia’s demand for “an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to uncover the facts, including the chronology of events and those responsible,” stressing that accountability must be upheld.

“Indonesia calls on the United Nations Security Council to address this matter urgently, and on UNIFIL troop- and police-contributing countries to convene a meeting immediately to review and strengthen force protection measures,” it added.

The Ministry linked the incident to Israel’s ongoing military operations in southern Lebanon, warning that such actions “risk further destabilizing the situation and endangering UN peacekeepers.”

Indonesia underscored that “the safety and security of UN peacekeepers is non-negotiable. Any harm to peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international law and must not go unanswered.” (QNA)
