Amman, July 3 (Petra)– Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodríguez
announced that the death toll from the powerful earthquake that
struck the country on June 24 has risen to 2,595.
Speaking at a press conference in the capital, Caracas, on Thursday,
Rodríguez said the number of injured has reached 12,400, adding that
search and rescue teams from 33 countries are continuing operations
in the earthquake-hit areas, according to international news agencies
on Friday.
She said rescue teams have so far pulled 6,462 people alive from
beneath the rubble.
Venezuela was struck by two powerful earthquakes on June 24,
measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, respectively. Search and rescue
efforts remain underway across the affected regions.
