Ajloun, Dec 3 (Petra) – Over one million visitors have made it to the Ajloun cable car since its launch, marking a growing interest in the vital project that boosts tourism in the northwestern governorate, said Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group, Sakher Ajlouni.
“This achievement is not a coincidence, but is the fruit of a tremendous effort in operation, maintenance, and development, in addition to Ajloun’s natural scenery, which makes the experience even more appealing and unique,” he told a meeting with a team of Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group, the Austrian global manufacturer and maintenance provider of the cable car.
The regular maintenance of the Ajloun Teleferique is not only a technical procedure, but an essential part of the safety system that the group prioritizes in all development zones, he said, stressing the importance of the tourist cable car service for local, Arab, and international visitors.
He said cooperation with Doppelmayr/Garaventa, a world leading cable car engineering and operation company, ensures the system undergoes rigorous testing by international experts. He added that a qualified Jordanian staff works alongside the Austrian team, enhancing the quality of work and increasing operational efficiency.
Ajlouni also said the group attached great importance to training, in cooperation with Gamesystem, with weekly training programs in vertical rappelling and safe evacuation to enhance the operational teams’ readiness to handle emergencies.
For his part, Ajloun Development Zone Director, Tariq Al-Ma’aytah, said maintenance is carried out according to international standards four to five times a year.
It includes inspection of cables, stations, transmission units, safety systems, and cabins, he said, adding that a cable car can only take off when every component of the system is verified to be completely ready.
