Amman, Aug. 6 (Petra) – A total of 26 trucks carrying food aid crossed from Jordan into the Gaza Strip on Wednesday as part of Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian relief campaign, led by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) with direct support from the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army.
The convoy, which was originally intended to be part of a larger aid flow, faced significant disruptions on the ground, including repeated attacks by Israeli settlers during its passage through the West Bank. Some trucks were vandalized and delayed for hours.
Despite continuous efforts, the number of aid trucks reaching Gaza has dropped to fewer than 30 per day down sharply from a previous daily range of 100 to 150 worsening the already dire humanitarian and health conditions for civilians in the besieged enclave.
“What we are witnessing systematic attacks on humanitarian convoys is unacceptable and condemned,” said Hussein Shibli, Secretary General of the JHCO. “However, such acts will not deter us from fulfilling our humanitarian duty to our people in Gaza.”
Shibli stressed that the sharp decline in aid delivery reflects the extent of the restrictions imposed on the ground, holding the other side fully responsible for the ongoing blockade and obstruction, which he said clearly violate international and humanitarian laws.
He reaffirmed that Jordan, under Royal directives, will continue sending aid convoys to Gaza despite all challenges, in full coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces and partner organizations.
